I am working on a number of coats right now, none finished, some at the beginning, others almost done.
This is one, just about half way along. It’s pieced from white and cream colored kimono silks with pearl beads sewn into the corners and seed beads along the seam lines.
I wanted the focus to be about the individual silk squares. The beads along the edges emphasizes their separateness. I like how each piece is unique but that they all come together into one.

A metaphor for what we’re all working towards these days.
It’s a slow process, but that’s ok because with no craft shows, no travel and no concerts, plays or lectures, time is what I have plenty of these days.
One other thing, if you haven’t been for a while, check out my web-shop. I’ve been taking advantage of my extra time and have been adding new pieces, jackets, coats, scarves, tops, skirts and the new throw I just finished. Find it here.

Thank you for this—I might wish to remarry (the same husband) if it meant I could wear this!
You are so very welcome Jan!
This is a lovely idea and execution…I am amazed at the intricacy of your stitching and your generosity of sharing the techniques. Thank you.
Thank You Millie! I appreciate your kind words.
Sharing is part of the deal, I am only passing on what I have learned from others.
Pearls are so magical. Made because of a tiny irritant in the Shell. Something solid, shiny and beautiful because of a speck of grit. Things that make you go hmmmm.
