We are stuck in a heat wave. It’s way, way, way too hot.

Too hot for this splooting squirrel spread out on the front porch trying to cool down.

Reminding me of this bookmark lizard my friend crocheted for me.
Why is it that even if the house is reasonably cool, I still feel like this? Flattened, head back, tongue hanging out.

But, I am trying to not be deterred. I’m still at it, just at a reduced speed.
I’ve been working on a new appliqué project using this beautiful kimono silk hand painted with a wave-like design. Gorgeous!

The applique strips have been cut, sewn, turned and ironed flat. Now they’re ready to be pinned into place.

Meanwhile, outside it’s still hot. I’m spending my time inside, doing my best to stay out of it.
My goal: to be ok, focus on projects and don’t think about the splayed squirrel, the too bright sun and especially, don’t look at the temperature.

Ooof. I made the mistake of looking at the forecast for the next week. More hot weather. I think you’ll have a lot of indoor time to appliqué those lines of silk.
