It’s coming up! The 2013 ACC Baltimore Craft Show.
I’m buried under piles and pieces of gorgeous silks. Cutting and sewing, recutting, resewing, adjusting, adding or removing, working my way from the center to the edges of the pattern pieces.
Almost finished, it’s the front of a coat, laid out on my new “design area”,…
the floor.
This technique requires lots of shifting and adjusting, so it’s easier to lay out the pieces on a flat surface than to pin them to the wall. Any project bigger than a jacket gets moved to the floor.
Another coat front. The piecing is finished on this one, so it’s pinned to the wall. When it’s vertical I can see how it will look when it’s a coat, then if needed, make changes.
A detail showing the gorgeous kimono silks.
It’s true, I absolutely love this work. Hours in my studio thinking about nothing but where the next piece should go. Bliss!
Interesting to see how much more color contrast there is in your garments these days. Dramatic!
Drama! I love it! Thank you Jeannette.
