New jackets for the upcoming Smithsonian Craft Show. In one week I’ll be packing and heading for Washington DC!
I’ve been celebrating kimono silks, piecing and re-piecing to celebrate their unique patterns and designs. This black and gold jacket for instance, showing off two different silks, each with a different Hokusai inspired wave. I love the energy!
And cranes! I love cranes! They’re symbols for good fortune and longevity, plus, they make beautiful images. These came from an old kimono, pieced so they line up along the front edge of this jacket,
Another way to stay safe, Shisa or guardian dogs. I’ve combined them with a silk of electric silver slashes. My version of a super hero cape.
Guardian dogs are a cross between a dog and a lion. They’re meant to keep bad out and good in.
More gorgeous kimono silks, lined up like a landscape. And along the top edge, I’ve pieced a forrest of trees.
Ann, Your work is beautiful! Inspiring. Each piece you create is art, and I look forward to all the new designs.
