Buttons are the last thing I add to my jackets and coats, so they need to be exactly right. I want them to blend in and not be too overwhelming. It’s the design I want you to notice, not the buttons.
See how these beautiful little Swiss glass buttons are perfect matches for the red berries in this kimono silk?

When it’s time for buttons, I head to my favorite fabric store, Josephine’s Dry Goods, owned by my good friend Judith Head.

Look at them all! I always find what I need. I bring in my fabrics and spend way too much time choosing the perfect buttons for each project.

I didn’t want competition with the delicate beading and embroidery in this jacket, so I chose subtle, pearl buttons.

How about these gold knot buttons? Elegant, just like this gorgeous silk.

Or these white squares that match the appliques so well, you almost have to look twice to see that they are buttons.
But it’s not just the buttons that keep me coming back to Josephine’s, it’s the fabric, the friends and welcome I get every time I walk in the door.
