New Photographs

Clothes come alive with someone in them. Hanging on a dress form or displayed on a wall is all fine and good. It’s definitely an excellent way to see the details. But the magic really happens when they’re on a person and you can see them in motion. Good photographs are able to do that.

Start with a champion photographer, Mario Gallucci,

add in a skillful stylist, Crystal Lee,

and lastly, a model who’s willing and able to stand patiently, move, pose and when requested, jump, twist and kick. Olivia has it!

Looking so pretty in this appliquéd coat I’m calling ‘Morning Dawn.’ I started it a long time ago [check out its very first appearance here, and an in process photo here.]

Even a subtle movement adds life.

My other favorite technique, piecing. It’s all about creating new patterns and designs with the simple technique of cutting and sewing.

Sometimes my naming muse is no where to be found, I ended up calling this one, ‘Orange, Pink and Red with Purple.’

Always willing to move and jump, Olivia is most definitely up for it.

Another pieced coat, this one in greens, I’ve posted about it before, but so different when it’s in motion.

And pants! Sewn from the perfectly matching silk crepe I found at the fabric estate sale I wrote about here.

One more appliquéd piece. This one in a big, bold red and yellow check.

Shown with loose shorts sewn from a Chinese brocade from my stash. This is why I can’t get rid of my fabrics! I can usually find the perfect thing right here in my studio.
