OK! All orders are completed and shipped, followed by a few weeks to relax and renew.
Onward! To new work, new ideas and fabrics.
This is the way it starts, an idea in my head, maybe a sketch, often piles of fabric.
Does this look like a pieced jacket to you?
Or how about this one?
In my head, it’s little snippets of color splashed across a white jacket.
The first try may not work but instead, leads to something else.
Like this purple [my camera sees brown, but it’s purple] and these pretty blues, rejects from the pieced jacket above. They were in the ‘no’ group, looking beautiful together. They’ll go into another project, an oversize coat with skinny appliqués.
This one started with a skirt looking for a top.
Can you see it? It’s not a piece of fabric with tiny scraps pinned here and there and stuck on a dress form. It’s a brand new jacket.
Like seeds to a gardener, it’s all about potential. Not what it is, but what it will become.
Love the process. A little like painting but with fabric?
I love how you create your color pallets. Your method is inspiring!
