Add and Mix

In 2010 I made a Mother of the Groom outfit for Mary Jane, in pinks with silver beads. A few years later, for more mix and match options, I added in a pieced top and grey skirt. Time flies! Turn around and grandchildren arrive. With her gorgeous daughter-in-law and 3 adorable grandchildren, wearing the original […]

Mother of the Bride

There’s the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the reception, the brunch. What to wear? One outfit for all? Something different for each? And what if you don’t, not ever, want one of those, well, you know, one of those dresses. The beautiful Judy chose “Fragments”. Fabulous! Skirt and jacket sewn from pieced, Japanese kimono silk.

New for ACC Baltimore 2016

I fell in love with this pretty kimono silk, originally destined to be sewn into a kimono. Kimonos usually have the design at the hem, but I wanted the focus to be up, across the shoulders and down. Can you see the glass beads? I sewed them to highlight the little dots in the design. […]

Blue/Green for a Mother of the Groom

A just finished mother of the groom jacket, top and skirt. The bridal colors are teals and coral, ‘but not too much coral please’. A gorgeous gradated shibori kimono silk for the jacket and skirt and a beautiful print for the shell. On the jacket, appliqued squares of the print to tie them all together.

Alpine Wedding

It’s my wedding pictures! 6 lovely ladies and 3 handsome men. My idea; it’s a photographer’s studio but it’s also an outdoor wedding in an alpine meadow. The sun is out, the air is cool, cheeks rosy from the fresh mountain air, hair blown a bit from the breeze, it’s a beautiful day and everyone […]

Wedding Photo Shoot II

My second ‘wedding’ photo shoot. First, set up the camera and lights. Hang the gorgeous backdrop, an alpine meadow, painted by the amazing Kelly Saxton. Next, bring in the models, add just enough makeup so they look fresh and bright. Hair? I asked for braids. Amy Gillespie and Kendra braid Sam and Ashley’s hair. The […]

Elegant Mother of the Bride

Radient Beth with her two beautiful daughters. A mother of the bride jacket I was working on last April. A fabulous kimono silk covered with beads, subtle but just enough pizazz to make it special. She wore it with the perfect dress, a gorgeous slate grey dupioni silk. The very best way to compliment anything […]
