A bit of a wrap up from 2012: My class “Loops: Bias Strips and Applique Techniques” at Portland’s great fabric store Josephine’s. We gathered round the tables and made flowers pins from skinny little strips of silk bias. Yes! Bias tubes of silk, cut, sewn and turned, ironed flat and then twisted into flower shapes.
And look how beautiful they came out! Each Different, like real flowers.
Then sewn onto felt backing and pin-backs added. So pretty!
How about this one? From a plaid taffeta, camouflaged here.
Easier to see here. And with a cool glass button in the center. Fantastic!
I had such fun. My next teaching gig? Through the Columbia FiberArts Guild, in June. A lecture on June 12th at 7:00pm, followed by a 2 day workshop, June 13 and 14. I’m calling it “Needles and Thread: Sewn embellishments: piecing, applique and beading.”
