Baltimore 2025, Coming up!

In less than a week! The annual ACC Baltimore Craft show will be up and running this next Friday through Sunday. February 21-23.

I’m adding, adding, adding new work to bring.

Like this pieced jacket in pretty aquas and light greens, a nod to spring.

It’s relaxing, gathering fabrics bits and scraps from my stash, cutting, sewing, recutting and sewing those pieces back together into blocks. Then laying everything out so that the colors and pieces flow together. I am not thinking about anything bad, sad or upsetting. Instead I’m thinking, ‘this goes well here’ or, ‘if I add in this, it helps to balance out the whole.’ I focus and time flies.

I had a new idea for a shawl collar coat, my design with a loose wide collar that works like a shawl over your shoulders. This one in soft purples.

It was an idea for a surprise revealed when you move and shift the collar.

I put a fabric with cranes over ocean waves along the bottom edge, visble when the wearer moves, adjusts or tucks in the collar.

Below, when the collar is pulled close to the neck, you can see the cranes clearly.

My inspration, plain black kimonos with the colorful designs and patterns hidden on the inside lining. WIth this coat the cranes are here, not here, seen, then hidden, as the wearer moves you can and cannot see what is beneath.

More ocean! Portland is a short drive to the Pacific Ocean. I grew up driving down for a day, a weekend or longer. It’s another way to relax. Breath the salt air, walk on the sand, watch the waves.

Do you see a pattern here? It’s crazy out there! I’m doing my very best to find my way to a state of calm and tranquility.

The kimono silk I used for this ocean jacket uses metallic gold threads for a little glittler.

With beads added to suggest spray.

Another classic Japanese design, the cherry blossom. I could not resist this gorgeous fabric. There was just enough for this one jacket.

I added these so very cool, square gold beads to in the center of each flower.

All these and more! All headed to Baltimore for the 2025 craft show.
