Yesterday I spent the day teaching a workshop to a wonderful group of women from the American Sewing Guild‘s local chapter: Westside Columbia River Sewing.
We started with a slide show and lecture. I knew I was in the right place when I saw this tower of sewing boxes and baskets used to raise up the projector.
The afternoon was a hands on workshop. Irons and cutting mats laid out and ready.
Step one, make narrow bias tubes. It’s easy! Cut skinny strips of silk organza, fold, sew and turn. Iron flat.
Step two, make stuff. The beginning of a flower pin.
Or use them for applique. Pretty colored strips laid flat and pinned in place.
Or don’t lay them flat, instead, loop them up into curling spirals.
Baste, then hand stitch.
I had a wonderful time! Lots of women sewing like mad and sharing. That’s what it’s all about. A community of like minded people having fun and bouncing ideas back and forth. There is nothing better!
