This was the jacket that I was working on for the ArtBeat story. When the show starts it shows me pinning the strips in place. And here it is. Finished! The body is the active, colorful applique strips and all the rest is a solid deep purple. It’s all about contrast, everything happening in one spot, then a restful plain, solid color for the sleeves, collar and back.
Right now it’s in New York City, at Julie: Artisans’ Gallery.
Stop in to see it. And, stop in soon, because sadly, they have lost their lease and must close. It’s true, time marches on and swallows even the best. A wonderful, innovative and always very supportive gallery, Julie’s has been in business for 40 years. It’s where I got my start. Julie Schafler Dale did so much to promote not only me, but the entire art to wear community.
Their doors close in June.
