Appliquéd Coat

A new coat, loose and oversized. I’m using an amazing kimono silk that is perfect for a layer of my skinny appliquéd strips. I can’t wait to see this one finished!

New Skirt

A new skirt! Pieced silk strips cut into triangle shaped panels and joined together. I thought I was finished. Nope. It needed, had to have, could not possibly go without, appliquéd squares. So, OK, there is no arguing with a skirt that knows what it needs. New skirt, pieced from Japanese kimono silks, with added […]

A Classic Jacket Design

In honor of Coco’s most basic of jacket shapes, I call this design “Chanel”. Seemingly simple, it allows much room for versatility. I can leave the sides straight and loose like a classic Chanel or pull them in for shape, as you see I’ve done for these pictures. Depending on the fabric and my embellishment, […]

Appliquéd Collar Dress

Finished! This one took a while. I started it over a year ago. But we were in no hurry, so took our time with the time lag of cross country fitting. Sharon’s dress, like the one in this wedding photo series, only instead of the black and white print, we used a cream kimono silk. […]

Blue/Green for a Mother of the Groom

A just finished mother of the groom jacket, top and skirt. The bridal colors are teals and coral, ‘but not too much coral please’. A gorgeous gradated shibori kimono silk for the jacket and skirt and a beautiful print for the shell. On the jacket, appliqued squares of the print to tie them all together.

Below, a picture of her on her way to see the Met Museum’s Charles James exhibit. I understand it was a fabulous show. Alas, I missed the exhibit [darn!], but my […]

Grass and Dew

She asked, “Can this be made as a swing coat?” I said, “Yes! Of course!”

Bye Bye

Gone, but not forgotten. These jackets came with me to the ACC Baltimore show and from there, off they flew. “Feathers and Wings”, pieced from an amazing kimono silk with flying cranes and pine tree branches. From the side. I love the energy in these old silks! Tina’s “Purple Cranes”, pieced so they fly up […]

Alpine Wedding

It’s my wedding pictures! 6 lovely ladies and 3 handsome men. My idea; it’s a photographer’s studio but it’s also an outdoor wedding in an alpine meadow. The sun is out, the air is cool, cheeks rosy from the fresh mountain air, hair blown a bit from the breeze, it’s a beautiful day and everyone […]
